Visite de Google

C’était l’Excursion de la SU ! Nous avions de grosses attentes, car tout le monde a déjà entendu parler des conditions de travail chez Google… Nous n’avons pas été déçus !

Après une courte visite d’une partie des locaux, nous avons fait une petite pause billard puis participé à un “Google Tech Talk” au sujet du fonctionnement algorithmique du système Google Ads.

Pour terminer la visite, nous nous sommes séparés en deux groupes (pour des raisons de timing) : le premier a pu déguster gratuitement un plat parmi tous ceux offerts par les 26 restaurants du campus, et le second a ~~pillé~~ visité le Google Store, rempli d’articles revêtant le logo multicolore et impossibles à se procurer dans le commerce.

Nous sommes ensuite passés par le jardin décoré des mascottes de chaque version d’Android, le système d’exploitation mobile de Google.

Comme prévu, cette visite était impressionnante et ne nous a laissé qu’un seul regret : nous aurions voulu en avoir plus, beaucoup plus ! 🙂

This was the trip that everybody was waiting for and it definitely lived up to its expectations. We have heard so much about the company, its work culture and the uber cool atmosphere. We just couldn’t wait to experience them first hand. Our Google visit started with a small company tour organized by the company HRs. There are so many recreation facilities on campus that left us wondering how anyone could get any work done with these tempting distractions 😀
After the tour, we had a “tech-talk” from a Google employee (apparently an SJSU alum), who talked about his team and his work at Google. He then shared with us some tips and resources that one can look into, in order to crack the (in)famous Google Interview.
It was time for lunch (free food on the Google campus) but we had to choose between the lunch and a visit to the Google Store 🙁 The Google store was awesome, to say the least. There were some very cool Google merchandise that one couldn’t get outside. We had come to the end of the Google trip (already?) and had to leave 🙁 On the way back, we stopped at this place that had all the Android statues and took souvenir pictures. It was an awesome day that left us wanting for more 🙂
